KING: In your first book, you mentioned that you were diagnosed with bipolar disorder? How did you cope with that? BRAND: At first, I was really angry, but then really happy, then furious, then really cheered up.

I’m starting a series of toons based around famous and/or otherwise exceptional people who have come to terms with Bipolar at some point and have helped to raise the profile of the battle to annihilate the stigma clinging on to mental illness.

The word Stigma has its origins in the greek word for a mark made with a brand.  I really appreciate that our Brand has made his mark against it.

Monsieur Brand – I salute you and admit to being crippled with envy of your hair.

Hopefully these toons will serve as a reminder that you can achieve the things you set your mind to, despite mental illness.

      All the best,
